  •  Fixed icons at bottom of screen to display properly with the "Views".  (Broken with last beta)

  •  Converted the rest of the tab displays to use "Next" as the left soft menu value instead of "Done" for touchscreen devices.

  •  Changes to 3-gen view for devices with 800x480, 320x380 and 480x320 screens.  (More finger friendly)
  •  Converted all 480x800 screens to use larger font size to make dialogs more finger friendly.
  •  Converted most 320x480 screens to use larger font size to make dialogs more finger friendly.  (Some screens could not be done and maintain all the information)
  •  Fixed display issue when switching from tree view to 3-gen view.

Version 4.00A17 - May 30, 2010

  •   Device: Started work on making screens more finger friendly for 480x800 capacitive display devices such as the HTC HD2.
  •  Device/Desktop: Changed Beta 'drop dead' date to end of September 2010.
  •  Desktop: Changed re-install button ("Tools" dialog) to allow for selection of what device type to re-install.  (Assuming different versions have been installed from that desktop computer... if only one 'type' was installed then that will be the only selection)
  •  Desktop: Merged the "Reports" and "Export" buttons into a single button.  (Export)
  •  Desktop: Another Fix to GEDCOM and Changes Report export for SQLite.
  •  Desktop: Additional work on new Changes Report.  (Such as adding color coding... "Red for delete, Yellow for Change, and Teal for New)
  •  Device: Individual and Family tabbed screens for PocketPC (Touch screen) devices now have "Next" as the left soft menu button.  This can be used to cycle through the tabs.
  •  Device: Added "X" button to main display.  If "Smart Minimize" is not turned on (off is the default), then the "X" will close the program.

Version 4.00A16 - May 15, 2010

  •  Added "Re-install" button to "Tools" dialog for re-installing device side.
  •  Significant update to Changes Report.   All data should now be exporting with changed data in bold and deleted items marked with [Deleted].
  •  Adjust the keyboard (SIP) up/down routines for Windows Mobile 6.5.3 devices.
  •  Additional changes in support of 320x480 and 480x320 devices.
  •  French and Norwegian Language Update.

  •  Change to Database routines to properly work with export to GEDCOM (Changes only).  This was broken when we switched to SQLite as the database.

  •  Desktop: Fixed program termination when syncing large notes.  (Related to fix in 4.00A08)
  •  Desktop: Fix to the automatic install feature of "Check for Update".   You will have to download 4.00A11 manually from the website and install to fix this issue, subsequent "Check for Updates" will work properly.
  •  Desktop: Change to how the 'open' dialog works when opening a log (icon on bottom left) or when selecting the sound to play for import, export or sync.  (Needed because of changes in Windows 7)
  •  Norwegian and Swedish update

Version 4.00A09 - March 9, 2010

Version 4.00A06 - February 7, 2010

  •  Version 4 now totally separate from V3.  (Both V3 and V4 can be installed at the same time)
  •   Better support for 480x800, 800x480, 240x400 and 400x240 devices.
  •  Installer messages changed if MDAC (Microsoft Access Jet driver) is not available to indicate that direct Legacy or Genbox won't work, but Pocket Genealogist will.
  •  Eliminated Palm-size, PocketPC, PocketPC 2002 and HPC versions.
  •  Speed improvement when processing orphaned databases.
  •  Version 4 PAF/FTM Add-on will need to be installed as well if you are doing direct PAF or FTM imports.  (Contact NHS for the download if purchased the Add-on and want to use it with v4)

Version 4.00A05 - January 30, 2009

  •  Pocket Genealogist now uses SQLite instead of Microsoft Access for its internal database.   Version 4 and Version 3 databases will no longer be interchangeable (you won't see databases created with V3 or vice Versa - applicable to desktop side of Pocket Genealogist only)

Version 4.00A04 - December 22, 2009

  •  Device: The "Edit", "View" menu item will now show a check mark next to the view that is currently selected.
  •  Device: (Advanced) Better error checking when using the "External Viewer" with images.
  •  Desktop/Device: Norwegian and Danish language updated.
  •  Desktop: Added "Original Image" as an option for image sizing on the "Advanced Options" screen.  (But these are likely to change in the future if we rework image import/syncing)
  •  Device: (Advanced) Fix to multimedia tab to properly show image preview if using d-pad to switch between list entries vs. stylus.

Version 4.00A03 - November 1, 2009

  •  Added new "view", '3-gen with Photos'.   (Advanced only)
  •  The "Tools", "Go To", screen now shows a thumbnail of the individual (preferred image).  (Advanced only)
  •  The multimedia tab will now show thumbnails for the item selected.
  •   On device for Multimedia "External Viewer" function, change so if no program is associated with a file extension, an error message will be displayed.
  •  Added a check mark next to the "Edit", "View" menu item that is currently active.
  •  Danish and Norwegian update.

Version 4.00A02 - October 3, 2009

  •  Reworked Internet (Check for Update) functions.
  •  Check for Update "Download" button now prompts for which executable you wish to download then downloads and prompts for installation.
  •  RootsMagic Customize screen fix.  (Wasn't properly showing which Multimedia options were selected)

Version 4.00A01 - September 26, 2009

  •  First build for Version 4 which will temporarily allow the use of Version 3 registration codes.
  •   Change to importation of Multimedia to allow for selection of "Images" and "PDF" files.  If you select Multimedia but neither "Images" or "PDF", you'll still get the references to those types on the device but just no images or PDF files.   Viewing of PDF files on the device are done via an external PDF viewer.  (Which may or may not be available on all operating system versions)   Also, PDF files are transferred with no modification (unlike images which are compressed and resized) so care must be taken with regards to space on the device.
  •  Display of "Object" tab for multimedia and PDF files show a PDF iconic graphic.  A single tap on the graphic will invoke the external viewer for that PDF.
